Value addition

Vefco - Frys

VFPCK has been undertaking different activities for promoting value addition and small scale processing of fruits and vegetables among women farmer members and SHGs of the Council. VFPCK has made its foray into the sector in 2005. The Council has established an ISO certified fruit processing unit at Ernakulam and produces banana chips which is marketed as ‘Vefco Frys’ in doemstic and overseas markets.

ISO certified unit with quality control and production takes place hygienically.
Farm fresh banana is used
No use of artificial colours
Fresh oil is used for frying and reheating of oil is avoided
Good quality crisp chips with extra taste
Increased shelf life
Nitrogen flushed quality packing

The Council also plans to introduce diversified processed products from fruits and vegetables into the food market. Flavoured banana chips produced by the Council are likely to be launched soon.

VFPCK has marketed around 40 MT of banana chips till date worth over 28 lakhs.
